The introduction of dual pyridinic N atoms into dibenzo[b,d]thiophene sulfone containing conjugated polymers for improved hydrogen evolution: Experimental and theoretical study

Research a new type of semiconductor photocatalyst and apply it to photocatalytic water splitting produce hydrogen. This is the most important topic in today's society. Therefore, we report four linear organic polymers PH-1, PH-2, PN-1 PN-2, which are formed by condensation dibenzothiophene-S, S-dioxide units with series derivatives benzene respectively used for hydrogen evolution. What’s more, also conducted detailed characterization experiments on polymers, such as UV–vis, XPS, XRD, etc., explore their molecular structure optical properties. Compared polymer PH-1 PN-2 containing nitrogen element can better adjust structure, reduce band gap value, increase specific surface area, accelerate separation electrons holes, had highest evolution rate 6658 μmol g−1 h−1 among without Pt co-catalyst under full arc irradiation. work not only synthesized photocatalysts, but opened up way conversion solar energy into chemical fuels.
